Four
Star Engines and Parts warrants to the purchaser that Four Star will repair or
replace, at Four Star’s option, during usual working hours, at the location of
purchase, installation or factory, any remanufactured short block or complete
long block engine found to be defective in materials
or workmanship according to the warranty schedule and warranty
exceptions shown below.
This Limited Warranty is not an
unconditional guarantee against all failures or hazards
IMPORTANT NOTICE: MOTOR HOMES and RECREATIONAL VEHICLES
Four Star Remanufactured Engines are
not designed, assembled or intended to be installed and used in Class
A Motor Homes as defined by the
American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA), and
therefore, carry no express written warranty for such installations.
ONLY CLASS B and C Recreational vehicles built on an O.E. chassis are included.

limited to $200.00 maximum.
THERE WILL BE NO WARRANTY ADJUSTMENTS BEYOND
THE ABOVE TIME AND MILEAGE LIMITATIONS.
Parts and Labor
Reimbursement Allowance For Automotive
Technicians.
1.
Four Star will credit distributor/jobber for the engine, parts,
and allowed labor. The
distributor/jobber will credit installer or owner. Four Star must be
contacted before work is started. All claims are subject to Four Star’s
inspection and approval.
2. All
repairs or engine replacements covered during the warranty period shown will be
reimbursed at Chilton Time or Motors Time (Flat Rate) as shown in the
appropriate Labor Guide Manual. For ASE
certified or equivalent professional engine installers, the time will be
multiplied by the installer’s hourly labor rate not to exceed $40.00 per hour. For non-ASE certified installers, the time
will be multiplied by the installer’s hourly labor rate, not to exceed $20.00
per hour. Labor for field repairs shall
not exceed $300.00. There is
no labor reimbursement for owner installed
or do-it-yourself installations.
Installer and Owners
responsibilities:
1.
The owner’s
warranty registration card must be completed, including V.I.N. number and
installer’s ASE identification number, and returned within 10 days of
installation to validate the warranty.
2.
The owner must
provide, upon request, documentation of normal maintenance performed during the
term of the warranty coverage.
Warranty Exceptions
– IMPORTANT
This warranty
does not cover: (1)
Engines that are damaged by abuse, neglect, or accident; (2) fluids, filters,
towing charges, telephone calls; (3) loss of time, loss of use of vehicle,
vehicle rental, lodging, inconvenience, commercial loss or consequential
damages.
This warranty
does not apply under the following conditions: (4) when engine specified for passenger car
use is installed in a pickup, 4WD vehicle, truck, van or class B or C
recreational vehicle; (5) when engine is operated on any fuel other than
gasoline except when specified by Four Star for use with other fuel; (6) when
engine block or heads are cracked from overheating or freezing; (7) when engine
failure is due to burned or melted pistons, broken rings, damage to block,
cylinder heads or gaskets caused from detonation, preignition,
high operating temperature or foreign material found in engine; (8) when engine
failure is due to lack of lubrication or contamination in oil; (9) when engine
failure is due to thrust bearing damage; (10) when engine or part has been
improperly installed or fails because of defects or inefficiency of parts or
components not furnished with engine, (i.e. carburetor / EFI system, air
cleaner, sensors, engine control modules, cooling system, exhaust system, oil
cooler, oil filter, etc.); (11) when short block OHV cylinder assembly is
damaged due to failure of owner’s cylinder head and other parts, (i.e. lifters,
rockers, rocker arms, pushrods, valves, etc.); (12) when engine has been
modified by others with performance parts or when engine is used for purposes
for which it was not intended; ( i.e. racing ); (13) when vehicle’s odometer is
inoperative; (14) when engine is installed in a Class A motor
home/recreational vehicle; (15) when an
abrasive disc is used to clean or polish any gasket mating surfaces causing
airborne grit and debris to enter the engine through an exposed cavity and then
enter the engine oil supply causing premature bearing damage.
Four Star Engines and Parts makes no other
warranties, express or implied, including the implied warranties of
merchantability and fitness for a purpose, except as otherwise required by the
laws of the state of sale to the customer, and shall not be liable for any
damages other than those required by law.
The warranty is voided on those assemblies where a
warranty registration card is provided and is not completed and mailed to Four
Star at installation. If the warranty
registration card is not on file, the owner must furnish proof of the
installation date & mileage, VIN number, vehicle application and ASE
number.
This warranty is extended to the original
purchaser. Any remaining coverage is
transferable, within 10 days of vehicle transfer date, to a second owner upon
written application to Four Star and payment of $25.00 transfer fee.
An engine or part which is furnished as a
replacement for a warranted engine or part is covered only for the unexpired
time or mileage remaining due on the original product.
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation
of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion
may not apply to you.
